NZAS SCL Crushing Plant
In 2009, Southern Cross Engineering were awarded the design and build contract for a prototype plant by NZAS.
The purpose was to turn their Spent Cell lining (SCL) from a nuisance by-product into a sized sellable one. The 50 TPH plant was designed, manufactured and installed to exacting industry specifications, inline with SCE’s ISO9001 credentials.
The plant was designed to handle SCL up to 450mm in lump size. Any ferrous metal in the feedstock up to 120kg’s is extracted by a magnet and then further screened by an all-metal detector removing any sizable aluminium. The feedstock is pre-screened before being sent to the crusher and then re-circulated over the screen and into the crusher again until completely scalped. The sized SCL is then fed into either twin 30T silo’s or twin bagging plants.
This work further complements SCE’s current smelter portfolio’s with completed projects in the Middle East and South America.
